The question rarely asked

Do you actually own your brand?

A commercial license, a trade name, a logo, a domain, social handles, packaging, and a visual identity all give your brand presence — but none of them, on their own, equal legal ownership of the mark. Ownership is established through trademark registration with the competent authority, via a registered IP agent.

The key question

Can you stop others from using your name, your mark, or your identity?

Timing matters

Why protection should start before expansion

Brand value rises with growth, and risk rises with every new market, channel, and partnership. The longer protection is delayed, the wider the exposure — and the more expensive it becomes to fix later.

A competitor using a similar name

After years of building, you discover another party operating under a close name in the same sector.

Someone files your mark before you do

You may find your own brand already registered in another party's name when you finally apply.

Expansion into Saudi Arabia or the wider GCC

Each jurisdiction requires its own filing path. Expanding with an unprotected mark is a commercial risk.

Franchising or distribution partnerships

The other side will ask for proof of trademark ownership before signing.

An investor or partner asking for proof of ownership

The IP portfolio is a standard part of due diligence in any serious transaction.

Selling on digital marketplaces

Major platforms require brand-ownership documents to protect sellers from impersonation.

Working with a marketing agency or designer

Without clarity on file and asset ownership, disputes over rights are predictable.

Counterfeits or pages impersonating your brand

Without registration, action against counterfeiters becomes slower, more complex, and more costly.

Why Meezab

Three differences that matter.

01

Because we start with the right question

Not every brand is ready to file, and not every business needs the same path. We start by understanding the business, the activity, the target markets, and the expansion plans — then decide what should be protected and in what order.

02

Because we separate advisory from regulated execution

Meezab is a management consultancy. We provide advisory and coordination directly, while filings and legal work are executed through registered IP agents and licensed law firms where required.

03

Because we connect IP to growth

Brand protection is not a standalone file. It is part of setup, expansion, market entry, franchising, partnerships, and investment readiness.

Methodology

How we work

Five clear steps, from the first call to organised portfolio oversight.

01

Discovery Call

We listen to the business, the goals, and the expansion plans, and identify what may need protection.

02

Risk Review

We review the name, identity, activities, and markets — and surface the initial gaps and risks.

03

Path Recommendation

We recommend the right path: priorities, classes, and jurisdictions, in a clear order.

04

Coordination with Licensed Partners

We coordinate the filing and follow-up through registered IP agents and licensed law firms where required.

05

Monitoring & Organisation

We set up a renewal calendar and portfolio monitoring, and route any opposition or dispute to a licensed legal advisor.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does Meezab register trademarks directly?

No. Meezab does not register trademarks as a registration agent. Meezab provides advisory and coordination, while the filing itself is handled by a registered IP agent before the competent regulatory authority.

Does a commercial licence protect the brand?

A commercial licence allows the activity to be carried out under the terms of the competent authority, but it does not, by itself, mean the trademark is protected as an intellectual-property right.

Is the trade name the same as the trademark?

Not necessarily. The trade name relates to the registration of the company or activity, whereas the trademark relates to protection of the name, logo, or identity used to distinguish products or services.

When should brand protection be considered?

Ideally before the brand launches, before significant marketing spend, before expansion into a new market, and before franchising or partnerships.

Can the brand be protected in more than one country?

Yes. Filings can be coordinated across multiple jurisdictions through licensed partners and agents in the relevant target country.

What happens if a third party opposes the filing?

Where an opposition, dispute, or legal matter arises, the case is routed to a licensed legal advisor or law firm according to the nature of the matter.

Start from the right question

Start by reviewing your brand ownership

If you are building a brand, launching a product, entering a new market, or planning expansion in the UAE, Saudi, or the GCC, do not start from the question: how much does registration cost? Start from the question that matters most: do I actually own the brand I am building my business on?

Compliance note

Meezab is a management consultancy. Meezab provides advisory and coordination directly. Meezab does not provide legal services, does not act as a registration agent, and does not guarantee the acceptance of any filing or any legal outcome. Where a trademark filing, legal service, or regulated activity is required, the work is coordinated through registered IP agents, licensed law firms, and authorised partners in accordance with the applicable regulations.
